A lot of people compare Newport Speedway to its big cousin, Bristol Motor Speedway, about an hour up I-81. With less than 25 laps to go in the Jeff's Auto Sales 150, Cory Joyce and Tim George, Jr., got tangled up in turn three just ahead of the leaders, Scott Turlington, Kaleb Pressley and Ronnie Bassett, Jr.
With the checkered flag in sight, watch what happened from one fan's perspective.
All drivers walked away unscathed.... the same can't be said for the racecars. Thankfully, the UARA has stringent safety specs that they enforce on all of their racecars. Eventual winner Roger Powell (the white 23) got caught up in the accident, as did other top-five finishers Joey Herques (26) and Brandon Jones (33). Want to see more UARA action?
