The 2021 MATHCOUNTS Chapter Competition is coming up, so I thought I would do several videos on various questions and some of the mathematical techniques behind them. What I love about this question is not just the technique behind consecutive integers problems and why it works, but the bit of mathematical lore that teachers almost always introduce it with. If you're teacher isn't talking to you about a young Carl Gauss when you learn this, time to get another teacher! (Just kidding).
