What's the Area of the Yellow Triangle? Geometry Puzzle from the Great Catriona Agg

In this particular puzzle, everything that looks like a square is a square, and we're given two lengths along the larger tilted square. From that information, we want to find the area of the shaded yellow triangle.
I'm happy with how I came up with the solution I came up with (and I'm reasonably confident it's correct), but there's just a little too much symmetry in the height of the yellow triangle being 2 for it to be a coincidence. If you've got the more elegant way to come up with that height, please let me know in the comments.
