1. There is an evil that I have seen under the sun, and it often happens among people:
2. God gives a man riches and wealth and honor, and his soul lacks nothing that he does not desire; but God does not allow him to enjoy them, but a stranger enjoys them. This is vanity and a grievous affliction!
3. Though a man beget a hundred children, and live many years, and the days of his life be multiplied, yet his soul does not enjoy good, and he has no burial, then I would say, A miscarriage is more fortunate than he,
4. For he came in vain and went into darkness, and his name is covered with obscurity.
5. He has not even seen or known the sun; he is more at peace than the other.
6. But though the other man live two thousand years and do not enjoy good, will not all go to one place?
