To deactivate your Facebook account, follow these steps:

1. **Open Facebook**: Log in to your Facebook account using the Facebook app or through a web browser on your computer.

2. **Access Settings**: On the Facebook homepage, locate the drop-down arrow in the top-right corner of the screen. Click on it, and then click on "Settings & Privacy".

3. **Go to Settings**: In the "Settings & Privacy" menu, click on "Settings".

4. **Deactivate Your Account**: In the "Settings" menu, scroll down until you see the "Your Facebook Information" section on the left-hand side. Click on it.

5. **Deactivation and Deletion**: Under "Your Facebook Information", you'll see an option for "Account Ownership and Control". Click on "Deactivation and Deletion".

6. **Deactivate Account**: On the next screen, click on the "Deactivate Account" option.

7. **Choose Reason and Confirm**: Facebook will ask you to select a reason for deactivating your account. Choose a reason from the list provided, or you can choose "Other". Then click on "Continue".

8. **Confirm Deactivation**: Facebook will provide you with information about what happens when you deactivate your account. Read through this information, and if you're sure you want to proceed, click on "Deactivate".

9. **Enter Password and Confirm**: Facebook will ask you to enter your password for security reasons. Enter your password and click on "Continue".

10. **Deactivate**: Finally, click on the "Deactivate Now" button to confirm and deactivate your Facebook account.

Once you've completed these steps, your Facebook account will be deactivated. Keep in mind that deactivating your account temporarily hides your profile and all your information from other users, but it doesn't permanently delete your account. If you decide to reactivate your account later, you can simply log in again with your email and password.
