This... is probably my greatest accomplishment in all of the video games I've played this far. After almost 3 months of grinding this one single golden berry, almost every day, with some little breaks and with ~91 hours total spent on practising, learning each checkpoint, building consistency and then attempting to beat the whole thing, I finally managed to get the last golden berry and complete the game on max%. I never died on the Golden Room, I have 2 deaths on 'Farewell' checkpoint, some deaths on 'Reconcilation', COUNTLESS DEATHS on 'Remembered', 'Determination' and 'Stubborness'. The more I streamed, the more I kept choking on both easy and hard parts. No words can describe how relieved and proud and happy I am about this. I still have no idea how didn't I give up despite the grind starting to get hopeless more and more, how I had the dedication and determination to get it done. I probably just kept persisting whenever I realized how much time I've already put in this. I didn't want it to go all to waste. I wanna do more challenges like this, but for now I need a little break...
I bought Celeste back in 2020. Back then, I fell in love with it, and i completed it 100%, getting all the collectibles except the golden berries. This challenge was too much for me as back then I was way more prone to rage and my patience was near 0. I got the winged golden, 1A golden, 2A and 2B golden. And that was it for me. I kept coming back to the game, maxing out another save files and each time I got back, I kept getting better at the game. Last year, I beat all the A-sides (except Farewell) and C-sides deathless. It seemed way harder then it turned out to be. And I got a total of 194 strawberries. That was, what i thought, the most berries I could get.
THIS YEAR, I got back to the game again. But then I came up with the crazy idea. I wanted beat all the B-sides deathless and see how far can I push myself. It seemed delusional for me as I didn't consider myself very good at the game. I tried beating 1B deathless, and after several hours of trying, I beat it. 3B was next, and we all know that 3B is, well, at least hard. I just wanted to see how far can I get, and if it's too much, I'd give up. I was getting further and further, seeing this made me actually believe I can beat it deathless. Took me 3 days to get 3B golden. So I tried 4B, let's see how far can I get, 3-4 days and boom, strawberry count goes up. It kept repeating up to 200 berries, and I was already content and supper happy about it. I didn't really think that I can get 202 berries, but I gave it a shot, I wanted to see how far can I get. 7B seemed like a massive difficulty spike because of it's lenght and I didn't really think it's managable for me, so I thought I'm gonna keep trying and practising until I give up. I died on the last checkpoint a few times, and after a week, on April 8th, I got the 201st berry. I was realy proud of myself, but I knew there is Farewell waiting...
At this point, when you realize what beating Farewell deathless is like, it makes 7B look like a joke. Normally, I didn't even consider trying to beat THIS HELL, it was super hard for me to beat it under 100 deaths, let alone golden berry. But as I got 201 berries, I got this far, I already did what I thought is unlikely to be done by me, so at least I wanted to give it a shot and see how far can I get without dying, just for "fun".
At first it was actually fun, I got past the skip on the second day of practising, I started to believe that I can beat it with enough dedication. I was watching strats on YouTube, practising each checkpoint, 2 months passed by and I managed to beat Farewell with only 9 deaths. Got motivated by DJTom3, who spent almost 300 hours (in half a year) to beat it. Over time, from a 'fun challenge' it started to get tedious, a test of my mental capacity. I started streaming it so then I'd have my run recorded. I died 2 times on the Farewell checkpoint, and I knew how devastating would it be to die on the golden room, so I practised it a lot on the other savefile. I started to loose patience, slowly loosing my shit, then several days back i beat Farewell with only 4 deaths. But somehow each day I just kept getting worse at the game. On one stream, I kept failing on Remembered all the time, and got past Event Horizon just once. Then, in July really good streams happened. My runs got very consistent all of the sudden. I kept getting past Determination more often, I was very focused, and ultimately on July 6th, THIS STREAM happened. Wow.
The journey is finally over, and what a journey it was. I have not much else to say. Thank you all for watching the streams. Have a great time!
