"Diary of an Illegal Soldier" Olena Bilozerska | Book Presentation & Discussion
British-Ukrainian Aid & AUGB London Branch host a book presentation by Lt. Olena Bilozerska, a journalist, human rights activist and war veteran, who reflects on the role of volunteer soldiers and her own experience at the frontline during the Russian-Ukrainian War (2014-present).
Olena's “Diary of an Illegal Soldier” was short-listed for the Taras Shevchenko National Prize in 2021. The book has documented Olena's experience at the frontline in 2014-2017 as a sniper of the Volunteer Ukrainian corps Right Sector and the Ukrainian Volunteer Army, including the first chaotic weeks of the war, the active Ukrainian offensive, the large-scale Russian aggression of summer 2014, and the gradual transition to a positional warfare.
