M240 Action
This is something I made for Royal Nonesuch several years ago, and it's very interesting! Well, it's interesting if you're a gun nerd. It really illustrates how great levers/toggles are at giving a fantastic mechanical advantage to the bolt in a gun like this. The hot, extremely high-pressure gas behind the bullet causes the gas piston to accelerate at a very high rate. In spite of that, this clever arrangement of levers makes it so the bolt moves VERY slowly at closing and at opening, which is what gives these guns such good reliability. Have you ever fired the M-240 in harsh conditions? How did it do?
