Glace Bay Jr Miners inducted into HOF
The 1955/56 Glace Bay Miners were inducted into the Maritime Sports Hall of Fame earlier today at the BMO Centre in Bedford NS. The Miners accomplished what few thought was possible winning the Maritime Major Junior title be defeating the Halifax Junior Canadiens in 6 games in a best-of-7 final. The Miners not only wore the jersey proudly but also were hard working coach miners who worked long hours during the day and then played hockey at night. Captain Fred Courtney and some of his teammates were on hand at the induction.
