This week we're taking a look at how Rachel Gunn (aka RayGun) made it to the 2024 Paris Olympics. We take a look at the history of breakdancing, how its popularization manifested, it's commercial appeal and its cultural impact. After that we discuss how breakdancing became a part of the 2024 Olympic Games, and the World DanceSport Federation's goals via Jean Laurent Bourquin. Then we discuss how Rachel made it to the olympics by examining the breaking scene in Australia, and how small it is. After that I rant about cultural impact, and how cultural exports feel, and briefly discuss how whiteness interacts with and extracts from hip hop, as well as contextualize that thru the impossible white man trope.
