MIRAGE is Takanashi Kiara's sixth solo single.
The song was an original creation from scratch by Asteroid Music Team. The group previously composed several of Kiara' songs, although producer KIRA did not work on MIRAGE specifically. Kiara paid for the song's production out of pocket.[1]
The song was first performed at Kiara's 4th Anniversary Live. The dance choreography was performed at Cover's 3D studios, featuring four backing dancers. Miyuki Nishijima and Lisa-P choreographed the performance, with Doudou Yukie and Pretty Cure live event suit actor Happiness Namilk performing as two of the backup dancers.[2] Due to scheduling, Kiara learned the choreography only three days before the recording.
A music video, produced by veteran hololive 3D fanartist Kanauru, was released immediately after the anniversary livestream. If the viewer presses '4' on the keyboard to jump to 40% of the way through the video, it lands on a rear view of Kiara; this an intentional reference to a similar effect in DO U, although in that video it was originally an accident.
It was released for streaming and download on 7 October 2024, Japan time.
Various accessory videos were released to celebrate view count milestones, mostly MIRAGE dance shorts featuring other hololive members.[3] A full Dance Shot Version demonstrating the choreography was posted to YouTube on 14 October 2024. An acapella version music video was released on 9 November.
