The creator of Telegram has been arrested
Look, meet Pavel Durov, a Russian who is now 39 years old. When he was little, you could already see he was a genius at math, so when he graduated from university at 21, boom! He created Vkontakte, the website that would become the Russian Facebook.
What happened was that in 2013, there were protests in kyiv against the pro-Russian president, and the Kremlin asked him to hand over the private data of the Ukrainians who were causing trouble. He replied no. And he had to flee Russia. Shortly after, he sold the website, and now it's controlled by the Russian government.
Pavel then saw that WhatsApp sucked like crazy, so he decided to create a better messaging app. So, with his brother, he created Telegram. It had an encryption system for messages that meant only the sender and the recipient could access that information.
