Trying to find the right collaborators for your next big song is tricky at the best of times, especially within the ACT. Using song credits to seek out the producers, engineers, songwriters, and session musicians of your favourite projects can be a great way of breaking out into the international music ecosystem.

Rod Yates is one of Australia’s most respected music journalists. He began his career in Canberra in the mid-’90s when he started his own fanzine and contributed to BMA, and has since gone on to launch the Australian arm of British rock institution Kerrang!, edit Rolling Stone Australia, and freelance for outlets such as the Sydney Morning Herald, The Age, Mojo, Q, Classic Rock and more. He is currently the Head Of Original Content at Jaxsta, the world’s largest database of official music credits, where he oversees the company’s original content strategy and hosts and produces the Humans of Music podcast, which is also broadcast as a weekly radio show in America on SiriusXM Volume. Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich once sent him a toaster. Which was very nice of him.
