Are you thinking about going solar? It’s a brilliant way to save money and the planet. But before you make the leap, there are some red flags you need to watch for to protect your investment.

First up, beware of Solar Sales Reps who make too-good-to-be-true promises. If it's not in the contract, don't count on it. And remember, tax credits and utility bill savings depend on many factors unique to you, so consult professionals to get the full picture.

Next, make sure your installer isn’t cutting corners on permits. Skipping permits might save time, but it can put you on the wrong side of the law and compromise your home's safety.

Speaking of safety, be cautious about lending fraud. Some dodgy companies might submit fake loan contracts or rush you into signing completion certificates. Only sign when you are 100% sure that the job is fully and correctly done.

Credit application fraud is another trap. Some reps might get you to sign what you think is an estimate but is actually a loan application! Always double-check what you're signing and who you're dealing with.

Lastly, don’t overlook the warranty. Check if all details match up and are legit. And don’t forget to add your new solar system to your homeowner’s insurance.

Solar energy is awesome, but it’s also a big investment. Ensure you’re working with the best by doing your homework and being vigilant. Check out our full article for a deeper dive into each of these points.
