I personally love this origami model. First because I thought it was hard and later found it was super easy. Second, I really find it cute with its mouth open and 3D look. I said, it is a koi. But my husband insisted that it looks like a catfish. So, I decided to follow him and named it "Origami Catfish". I hope you learned something from this tutorial. =)
In this tutorial I used:
▶ 1 pc Origami Paper
▶ Pen
I highly recommend using Craft Haven Origami Paper - 500 sheets per pack.
Size: 6 inches by 6 inches

Instruction:
Step 1: Get your 1x Origami Paper, color-side down and white up.
Step 2: Create Origami Square Base. Start by folding the paper in half, horizontally. Unfold.
Step 3: Fold the paper in half, vertically. Unfold.
Step 4: Fold the paper in half, diagonally. Unfold.
Step 5: Fold the paper in half, diagonally on the other side. Unfold.
Step 6: See this DIAMOND SHAPE? Use that as the base. Take the left and right diamonds and bring them together towards the center, and squash the top diamond down.
NOTE: Remember the first 6 steps. The result is called: THE ORIGAMI SQUARE BASE.
Step 7: Take upper flap, fold in half upwards.
Step 8: Take left and right part of the model and fold towards the center crease.
Step 9: Repeat Step #8. Take left and right part of the model and fold towards the center crease.
Step 10: Bring the top part to a fold downward.
Step 11: Turn the model over.
Step 12: Take left and right part of the model and fold towards the center crease.
Step 13. Unfold the last two folds. Open up the model and fold following the creases, creating a petal fold.
Step 14. Fold the left and right corners towards the centerline.
Step 15: Flip the model over.
Step 16: Fold the lower parts upward, as shown. This will serve as the fin.
Step 17: Do a reverse fold for each fin.
Step 18: Rotate your model as shown. Insert your finger inside this little pocket. Hold firmly. Grab the tail, and expand. Do this very carefully.
Step 19: Don't forget to bring this down.
Step 20: Polish corners and sides. Shape the body.
Step 21: Shape the fins. Make a curve.
Step 22: I like pinching the tail, and gluing it together.
Step 23: Take your pen and add some eyes.
