Is This The Future of Ski Touring?
I have had my eye on a peak near my house for years now. I have never before been to it before now. I was able to purchase a semi-cheap sled, an old 97 Polaris RMK 600, and with it I made the trek out to the mountains, hiked in about 3 miles, and then set up base camp to climb and ski the peak the next morning. I am using a Pomoly Hot Tent with Stove. The wind had gotten to it, so the skiing was not all that great, but it was good to be up on the peak, see the views, and scope out the different lines that are possible. I also liked exploring the surrounding area, I skied a South East run of about 1,000 vert that was actually more enjoyable than the main peak.
