Herceg Novi is a town in the municipality of Herceg Novi in Montenegro. According to the 2003 census, there were 12,739 inhabitants (according to the 1991 census, there were 11,429 inhabitants). Herceg Novi is a coastal town located at the entrance to Boka Kotor and at the foot of the Orjen mountain.
The area of Boka Kotor is characterized by a Mediterranean climate with dry and warm summers and mild winters. Herceg Novi has a specific microclimate, which is a consequence of openness to the south, proximity to the sea, limestone substrate and mountainous hinterland that prevents the penetration of cold air masses.
