What Class Should New Players Choose? - FFXIV New Player Guide
There are a lot of jobs to choose from right at first and the game doesn't really tell you what role they fill in a group settings. Lets discuss that and what class you should choose as a new player!

Melee DPS
• Lancer Becomes Dragoon
○ A little bit simpler
• Pugilist Becomes Monk
○ Heavy on positional
○ Consistently moving
• Rouge Becomes Ninja
○ Can't start as a rouge
§ You have to start another class then change into this one at level 10
Ranged DPS
• Archer Becomes Bard
○ Turns into Support DPS
Magic DPS
• Thaumaturge Becomes Black Mage
○ Long Cast times
○ Switch between elements
• Arcanist Becomes Summoner
○ Complex at end game
Tanks
• Marauder Becomes Warrior
○ Big Axe
• Gladiator Becomes Paladin
○ Sword & Shield

• Conjurer Becomes White Mage
