CryoDilation Research using trūFreeze Spray Cryotherapy System | STERIS
This study, presented at DDW 2023, shows the safety and effectiveness of liquid nitrogen spray cryotherapy-assisted balloon dilation of refractory anastomotic strictures using trūFreeze Cryotherapy System. It includes seven patients with various types of anastomotic strictures and highlights the improved quality of life, reducing the frequency of endoscopic dilations and experiencing life-changing benefits.
Patient Details:
o Four patients had Esophagogastric strictures
o One had Esophago-colonic strictures
o One had Gastro-jejunal strictures
o One had Ileo-colonic strictures
Previous Treatments: All patients had undergone balloon dilation; some had stenting and steroid injections.
Results:
o Significant reduction in the number of dilations required post-cryo dilation
o Over double the inner diameter of the strictures
o All patients remained symptom-free at the six-month mark
o No significant early or delayed bleeding or perforation
o One patient experienced transient post-procedural pain, managed conservatively
o All patients were discharged on the same day
