PADWOS - Portable Aircraft Derived Weather Observation System
The Portable Aircraft Derived Weather Observation System (PADWOS) provides a novel, low-cost, standalone technology for significantly increasing the number and quality of wind and temperature atmospheric observations that can be made by existing and future aircraft. The initial benefit being explored is PADWOS’s ability to improve weather forecast accuracy by significantly expanding the amount of atmospheric observation data to improve weather forecast models and aviation decision support.
