Part 10 - Stretchy IK Legs From Scratch (2/4) - Rigging "Ballrio" in Maya - Over the Shoulder Series

This is an excerpt in a series of videos I am releasing where I recorded myself while I went through the rigging process on this Ballrio character rig for the Animation Help Discord server. This is not intended to be a step-by-step tutorial per say, but more of an over-the-shoulder view of what I do to get through a character rig in Autodesk Maya. This character in particular had a few fun little gimmicks added to it such as squash and stretch on the ball-like body, and then stretchy IK legs.
This video in particular is the part where I built custom stretchy IK legs from scratch in the node editor. I build it to work with a global scale attribute on the global transform control as well as have leg length controls for the animators to use to help massage out their knee pops in their animations.
It is a bit of re-work from using the scripts originally, but it ends up functioning exactly how I had envisioned it.
So, as you can see, where much of this could be pretty informative and used like a tutorial, the main purpose of this is rather to give you a look into my troubleshooting process. Later I may actually release a more organized step by step guide to recreating this same type of rig, but I find value in releasing this as is for now.
The lattice-based squash and stretch on the body takes me way longer than it needed to, haha. So, I am going to include everything. I hope this is helpful!
