A huge 'ball of fire' traverses a €25M superyacht between Ibiza and Formentera
Two Maritime Rescue boats have traveled to the coast of Cala Saona, in Formentera, to control a fire that broke out on a 45-meter-long motor yacht, which has been completely destroyed. From the yacht, the 'Aria SF', a dense cloud of black smoke rises, perfectly visible from the coast and even from Ibiza.
Salvamento Marítimo has received the notice around 5:00 p.m. and has sent the two boats it has in Ibiza to the scene. These are the Salvamar Acrux and the Guardamar Concepción Arenal, which are already working to quell the momentum of the fire. From the high seas emergency assistance service they have explained that all the people who were on board, including the seven crew members, have already been able to evacuate the boat.
In the first moment of the emergency, Salvamento explained, a distress traffic was launched, a message that the accident ship itself sends to other vessels to request assistance, so that the occupants, with the exception of the crew, could be transhipped In the first instance. From the emergency service they have indicated that the crew members were then left inside the ARIA SF to extinguish the fire, which seemed controlled at first. However, the flames have finally acquired such virulence that the crew has not been able to suffocate them, so its members have also had to be evacuated.
Valued at €25 million
According to the digital portal Superyachtfan, it is a boat owned by a businessman dedicated to the automobile industry, and would reach a market price of 25 million dollars, according to the information offered by the web.
