It's a bird's eye view for humans. And a picturesque one at that.
A 180 feet observation wheel has opened at Maryland's National Harbor, overlooking the Washington area skyline.
(SOUNDBITE)(English) KENT DIGBY, SENIOR VICE PRESIDENT OF NATIONAL HARBOR, SAYING:
"It's gonna add an unmistakable new mark on the skyline. When you see the Washington Monument and the Capitol, you'll also see the wheel."
The Wheel hosts 42 climate-controlled gondolas, including a VIP seat; trumping all others with a glass floor, cup holders and a TV.
And these two friends took advantage of it.
(SOUNDBITE)(English) NATHANIEL JORDAN, FIRST CAPITAL WHEEL TICKET HOLDER, SAYING:
"The ride was great. I really enjoyed it. Very smooth, the view was great, especially looking up at Washington and everything like that, and thank God for giving us good weather today. I really enjoyed it."
The wheel will be attracting tourists all year-round.
It draws parallels -- or shall we say, circles -- to the London Eye and the Singapore Flyer... iconic attractions for the cities they serve.
