Solidworks, Broken-out Sections
In this SolidWorks tutorial, I demonstrate how to use the Broken-out Section feature as an alternative to a full section view when you only need to expose internal detail in a small, localized area of a drawing. To create this type of section, I start by sketching a closed, irregular spline around the area of interest [01:28]. After sketching the boundary, the tool asks for the cutting depth, which I can define by picking a feature in the view, such as the edge of the hole, to ensure the cut plane is placed exactly where I need it [00:31]. The result is a partial view that clearly shows the internal features, like the hole profile, without modifying the main boundary or view of the part [00:54]. I also show how to go back into the feature's properties to edit the sketch or adjust the cutting depth if needed [02:00].
