Artist Intention VS Viewer Interpretation: What Matters ? Kill la Kill Tribute DLYT#4 objection.lol
Intention or interpretation, what matters most ? And what about toxic fans ? Are some people more qualified to criticise a show ? And should we criticise other countries' culture ?
This is the topic of ep 4 of Don't Lose Your Turnabout: a half video essay, half story-driven mini-series in tribute to Kill la Kill's 9th anniversary and AceAttorney's 21th anniversary. Some people praise Kill la Kill for its feminist message, some says it's the most unredeemably sexist show ever made. Being my favorite series ever, and as a writer, I think it's the perfect case study to learn more about what art means for all of us and what is art criticism.

So, just like KlK, DLYT wants to address serious themes while being not very serious at all. Also, my goal isn't to make fun of anyone-...or rather to make fun of everyone equally, whatever your opinion about it may be.
