What's the point of comparing means, proportions, variances, or even distributions?
Well, to see if an event, phenomenon, or action has had an impact on the distribution of a measured quantity. In short, it's about assessing whether there is a cause-and-effect relationship between what we observed or measured before the event and what we observed or measured after the event.
