Driving through Taliban territory in Afghanistan

Half of the territory on the road between Kabul and Bamyan is controlled by the Taliban. This is from part of that area, four days after head of the Bamyan's provincial council was dragged from his convoy and beheaded. Being foreign is big trouble and getting caught with a camera is something you don't want to think about. (If you're prone to worry: nothing bad happens.)
It is very possible to be safe, though, and Bamyan is awesome and worth every effort.
