Hello cyclists and challenge lovers! This time, I, an office worker, decided to test the limits of my cycling abilities with a truly insane challenge: the Merapi-Merbabu Loop!
With a total distance of approximately 173 kilometers and an elevation gain of over 1,600 meters, this route is known as one of the most brutal in Central Java, nicknamed the Ring of Fire. But what makes this challenge unique is that I conquered it not on a regular road bike, but on a Tern Surge Minivelo with 20-inch wheels!
Many say minivelos aren't suitable for long climbs, especially those that split two iconic mountains like Merapi and Merbabu. Is that myth true?
