hey guys welcome to tutorialhub. This is our second lecture on calender problems. In this lecture i will show you sollution of some generic types of questions. If you want
to understand any other question, feel free to put it in comment below.I will be happy to answer it. Before moving i would suggest if anybody did not watch my first lecture, please watch it first to understand the concepts because these concepts we will use in this lecture. ok lets move to our first question.
our first question is which year will have the same calendar as it was for the year 1987? ok for solving these types question you need to count the number of odd days for next succesive years untill the count of odd days become 7, 14 or we can say the multiple of seven. but why, because we know a week has 7 days and 0 odd days or extra days. we just need to get 0 extra days to get the same calendar as 1987.ok so we start counting for next succesive years which are 1987, 88, 89, 90, 91, 92. ok here we know 1987 is not a leap year so it will 1 odd days. why because as i told you in my previous lecture ordinary year has 365 days that means it has 52 weeks and one extra day and that extra day is odd day.so 87 has 1 odd day, 88 is a leap year it will have 2 odd days because it has 366 total days that means 52 weeks and 2 extra days. 89 again is ordinary year so it will have 1 odd day 90 is ordinary year so 1 odd day 91 is ordinary year so 1 odd day 92 is a leap year so 2 odd days.
ok so now we count how many odd days we have till now. 1+2+1+1+1+2 euql 8 odd days right. till 1991 we had 6 odd days but because 92 is a leap year so odd days count became 8 which is not a multiple of 7. So we need to calculate for more years.ok so we add some more succsessive year 1993, 94, 95, 96, 97. 1993 is ordinary year so 1 odd day. 94 also an ordinary year so 1 odd day, 95 is an ordinary year so 1 odd days 96 is a leap year so 2 odd days. 97 is an ordinary year so 1 odd day.
ok so now we add these days 1+1+1+2+1 equal 6. previously we had 8 odd days so we add those odd days also so we have total 14 odd days and it is a multiple of 7 so after converting these extra days in week we have 2 weeks and 0 odd days. so that means answer would be 1997. 1997 will have the same calendar as 1987.our next question is If I am clebrated my birthday on 13th nov 2000 on monday. So on which day of the week I will celebrate my birthday in year 2005? ok for solving this question we need to count the number of odd days from 13th november 2000 to 13th nov 2005.ok we know from nov 2000 to nov 2001 is an ordinary year so we will have 1 odd day. from nov 2001 to nov 2002 1 odd day. from nov 2002 to nov 2003 1 odd day. from nov 2003 to nov 2004 there is 2 odd days because 2004 is a leap year and february will have 1 extra day and from nov 2004 to nov 2005 there will be 1 odd day because 2005 is an ordinary year.ok now we will calculate how many number of odd days do we have? 1+1+1+2+1 that is equal to 6 that means we have 6 odd days. in other words we have 6 extra days. so to find the day on 13th nov 2005 we need to count 6 days ahead from monday. which are tuesday wednesday thursday friday sat and sun. So answer is sunday.
