Shortz Minimovie 2 - Unfinished
I started working this video exactly 1,5 years ago, hoping to get it ready for Shortz' 10th channel birthday. Unfortunately, many factors kept me from finishing it in the end. The video was at this status for 5 months. Now I decided to cancel this certain project and move on with it. Other unfinished video projects might follow, there's loads.
With this video I wanted to go back to my roots. Long camera shots, mixed with the theme from the IMC5 (Infernal Movie Contest) - for which I also did a video - and the new abilities I was able to acquire since then. A schooled eye will see that I struggled with the camera smoothness at many occassions. Mainly, when I was trying to follow cars for that long with the Free Camera. Most of these camera paths are redone atleast 3 times.
What I aimed for in this video, was to not use any Text overlays. Only 3D text, which organically appears in the video. I wanted to highlight Shortz' maps and his driving (on non-shortz maps). In the end, I wanted to highlight his recent personal skin collection, which I obnoxiously asked for months ago. Now it is clear that all of my ambitions for this video are gone.
Technical factors also kept me from finishing it, no question. With MP4, many scenes I imported from TMNF were suddenly not recoverable - the game crashes when I'm trying to open some project maps / replays. Additionally, Sony Vegas has issues exporting UHD with 2+ transparent layers, which is why the resolution is a little lower now. With the lightmaps being broken & being LQ in a distance, I was not able to render good looking scenes anymore. Many of them suddenly had pixelated shadows. All came with MP4. My reports, which I sent in more than half a year ago, were useless.
