Sleepy Javelinas
The collared peccaries/javelinas (Pecari tejacu) like to sleep in the winter sun, where it hits the rocks and traps the heat all afternoon. They have their summer spots, too! They have been relaxing here for years. With the free–range, cattle denuding the mountainside they (the javelina) like to have some nice native grasses on which to forage .
