Worth it? - 30 Minutes with Behringer's Volca Keys (PHARA-O mini)
A few weeks ago, I posted a photo of some Behringer boxes, but I didn't reveal what was inside. Today, we're at least letting you in on a little secret.
Here's Behringer's PHARA-O mini, Uli's answer to the legendary Volca Keys. You can decide which one you'd choose.

I'm absolutely convinced by Uli Behringer's initiative to make affordable, easy-to-use synths accessible to everyone. His concept is: Become a musician, because there's a musician in all of us. It's very similar to my intention with my jam sessions: to motivate your creativity.
Now, every box of a synth from the Behringer Mini series includes the following:

In my opinion, this is a very important approach, and the devices are significantly cheaper than Volca or Roland's Aira series.
But are these things any good?
Let me put it this way: They're worth the money. They're well-made and, with USB and DIN MIDI, already offer more than the standard. In addition, there's sync in and out and a lot of knobs for modifying the sounds. A sequencer is also included. All in all, it's a good entry point. But that's about it. In fact, I think Behringer's Mini series is only intended for absolute beginners who simply can't afford a Volca. You can buy these without hesitation. But don't expect Behringer to put as much love into their products as KORG or Arturia do. They just don't. And that's a shame, but understandable at this price.
Today I sat down and just gave the PHARA-O a try. How deep can you go? How can you jam? What options do you have to tweak the sound on the fly?
Take 30 minutes and watch the jam, then decide for yourself if this device belongs in your setup.
