A bail bond indemnitor is known as a co-signer or guarantor. See: http://goo.gl/gixeOZ - A bond indemnitor takes full responsibility for the defendant’s appearance in court, and will often be asked to pledge collateral to guarantee the defendant court appearances.
Bail bond indemnitors (also called cosignors) are often family members or friends of the defendant.
If a defendant fails to comply with their bail bond conditions, it may result in the forfeiture of the indemnitor premium payment as well as any collateral offered to secure the bond.
