Top Gun: Maverick (2022) succeeds in delivering a heartfelt sequel all in an exciting, immersive experience. Like its predecessor, its impact will be long-lasting and even inspire the next generation of pilots. While it's an obvious salute to the US military and its service people, it's also the celebration of the human spirit. A universal truth that is encapsulated so well in a film about aviation. Major props to Tom Cruise. In essence, he is my generation's Steve McQueen. The last of a dying breed (appropriately so with the theme of the movie). Just so much to love here from the sound design of the afterburners, to the tight cinematography in and outside the cockpit. Genuine love for this film and for what it stands for. Truly deserves all the success it's getting.
