Shortly after the announcement from red bull, its rumoured that F1’s owners, Liberty Media, allegedly influenced Red Bull management’s decision to retain the mexican driver given the huge financial backing and profits he brings to the sport! Sergio Checo Perez is Mexico’s only F1 driver currently on the grid and he has a huge fan base all over the globe! Some are speculating that this interference from liberty media showcase the upper hand sergio has in negotiations with red bull and formula 1.
