Meet six Information Futures Fellows leading innovation in 2023
2023 may be a game-changer when it comes to understanding how to work with communities to understand and address information needs and inequities. The Information Futures Lab is hosting a cohort of fellows who work within communities from all over the world to create and test interventions to some of the most significant information issues faced.
Fellows you will hear from during this session include:
Adrienne Ammerman, Asheville,NC; Communications Specialist, Western North Carolina Health Network Project, working in this fellowship to partner with social platforms, healthcare professionals, and local community leaders to create localized social influence campaigns targeted at hyperlocal communities in Appalachia.
Sophia Galer Smith, London, UK; Senior News Reporter, VICE World News, working in this fellowship to bring content creators/influencers into schools to deliver digital literacy lessons and talk to students about the realities of creating content as a source of income.
Kelly Perry, Chiang Mai, Thailand; Senior Technical Officer, FHI 360 Project, working in this fellowship to create four models of climate futures scenarios in Thailand and work with civil societies in Thailand to inform policy and programs.
Kelsey Scott, Oakland, CA; A community-based public health communicator at the Roots Community Health Center, working in this fellowship to restore trust in health orgs and counter misinformation in Oakland through a program that answers health questions from community members and publishes them in multiple languages for others in the community.
Elisabeth Wilhelm, Atlanta, GA; Social Scientist for Infodemic Management Consultant, UNICEF Project, working in this fellowship to analyze and interpret the experiences of people who have been addressing health misinformation and infodemic-related issues in the time of Covid-19 through a storytelling-based methodology, Most Significant Change.
Lam Thuy Vo, Brooklyn, NY; Data Journalism Instructor, Craig Newmark Graduate School of Journalism at CUNY, working in this fellowship to scale a local community-based intervention to combat crime misinformation spread on the app Neighbors.
