What is the "Arena"? The arena is dark place, where creatives let themselves go to work. Usually in anger or fear, these people go under the radar with their talents. Not letting their work be seen or criticized. Coming from the depths of the "arena" walking up the stairs into the crowd, the crowd of judgmental strangers, friends, teachers, and students. Presenting their work without fear of criticism. I feel a lot of creatives from painters to cinematographers, struggle with the actual act of removing their work from the "arena" and bringing it to the light. Maybe someone will dislike, disapprove, or plain out dis it. I think its important for all artists alike to be able to present their work with pride and compassion to the world. Sometimes that is not possible, and the object and message of this visual project was to inspire some of these absolutely magnificent people to finally present something they've locked up for fear of embarrassment. It sounds cheesy, I know. I have found myself in this place before, with the over saturated film industry. I find myself irrelevant in the ever evolving world of cinema, I see so many new creative ideas that it puts a lot if pressure on me to create something thats new, fresh, and has never been done before. I have to remind myself I'm young, I'll get there, but I will get my ass kicked over and over again. Wether or not I can discipline myself to get back up and work my ass off more. It seems like a never ending cycle of doubts, fear, loss of money, and pride; but someday it'll be worth it. Maybe this will set me apart? Maybe it won't, but I'll never know unless it leaves the arena and makes it way through the crowd. Here goes nothing. Enjoy "The Arena"
