For centuries, engineers have been in charge of creating automations for various projects, with one of the most popular applications being the detection of the presence or movement of people animals vehicles, etc.
Over the years, the technological revolution in electronics has provided us with numerous special devices known as 'sensors', some of those being used today to help detect proximity or movement. However, there are situations where we not only need to know whether there is movement but also the direction of the movement. In such cases, we require not just one but two sensors, placed a short distance apart, in line with the path of the target's desired movement.
In this video, a robotic construction is being used (LEGO WeDo 2.0 based), as a case simulation, where an imaginary car parking service, wants to automatically calculate the number of cars which are currently inside the parking area, after detecting which vehicles enter (using a WeDo 2.0 distance sensor) or leave the parking lot. It also uses a BBC Micro:bit and a USB web camera.
