[MtG Arena] Thousand-Faced Shadow | Fast Lord-Cloning Win
Ninjutsu is a completely insane effect that I started out ignoring, because it was kind of tough to wrap my head around it. As I've played the game more and more though, I've come to really value it, especially when used on Thousand-Faced Shadow. Yes, it's a pathetic 1 mana 1/1 but its effect when paired with something worth cloning is unbelievable.
The basic premise behind Ninjutsu as a concept is, you think I'm attacking you with THIS, but actually, I've switched things up on you in an instant and suddenly I'm attacking you with THAT instead.
With cards that have nice effects that trigger whenever they enter the field, both of Ninjutsu's activation criteria can be useful, because to use it, you have to bounce a creature back to your own hand, which gives you more chances to reuse its "on entry" effect over and over. Nezumi Informant is a great example of this, repeatedly recalling that creature with Ninjutsu lets you repeatedly cause an opponent to Discard something. Thousand-Faced Shadow is, as shown in this footage, another really cool option because on-entry it clones something that's already attacking. The clone will come into existence already attacking, but the real thing that blew my mind is, those clones stay. They don't vanish or time out after a turn or anything, which means you can theoretically create units out of thin air.
Finally, when done to Silver-Fur Master which buffs all my Ninjas and Rogues attack and health just by EXISTING, and reduces all subsequent Ninjutsu cost, it's just such a cool mechanic to be able to trigger.
I'm still a little clueless and blundering around a lot, so I do still have this feeling of, I can only really play my deck if the enemy "lets me do it," if that makes sense. But, as I tweak things, get more wildcards to finish my deck with, and get more experience, hopefully I'll be able to create something that feels a little more stable.
