On Monday May 8th 2023, Dottery Tours (my fictional touring company) operated "The Coronation Railtour" in celebration of the Coronation of King Charles III. The tour was a circluar tour spaning the whole of the UK departing from London Euston to London King's Cross via Edinburgh Waverly.
The tour was doubled headed by ex-LNWR Large Boiler Claughton 6004 "Patriot" and LMS Princess Royal 46207 "Princess Arthur of Cannought" and was originally to be tailed by SR Merchant Navy 35028 "Clan Line" however she failed the week before. The tour departed Euston at 6am for a non-stop run on its way to Edinburgh only calling at Crewe, Preston & Carlisle so enthusiats and passengers could take photos of this unique consist. The tour arrived at the scottish captial slightly delayed at 12:15pm.
After a 2 hr break, the engines then departed Edinburgh at 14:30 and ran non stop down the East Coast Mainline only calling at York and Peterbrough for enthusiats and passengers could take their photos. The tour arrived into King's Cross at 22:34. The tour was a success.
