Why do so many people distrust the media? How has the internet changed journalism?
Many have questioned the role of fake news and false information in the American election and in the Brexit referendum. Donald Trump actively brands journalists, experts and the media as liars. Opinions seem more important than facts. So is truth absolute or are there levels of truth? Do people have time to worry whether they are receiving accurate information? In the age of media filtered by algorithms, do we really want to know the truth, or do we prefer a story that appeals to us?
Filmed in the USA and Europe, featuring Noam Chomsky as well as journalists from The Guardian and the New York Times, this investigative documentary explores how the latest developments in media and journalism are shaping our society. Can we find reliable information in these post truth times?
This documentary was produced by Sun Lua and directed by Hector Carre. It was first released in 2017.
