This is a scene I set up to demonstrate the use of gradients in LightWave. I have a wind generator with a Distance to Camera gradient which pushes the particles down and then kicks them up into the wind. Gradients are also used on the particles themselves. I used Pixie Dust to render the particles. I have gradients controlling the size and opacity of the particles to fake depth of field as well as changing the their color and adding the sparkle.
