What will AI films look like in 2024? After making a couple Ai shorts, Here’s what I’ve learned. The strengths of AI films include
Affordability
Rich, detailed images
Variety of settings and genres
These strengths align with a simpler, more expressionist style of filmmaking reminiscent of silent films from the 1920s, such as 'Passion of Joan of Arc' or 'The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari.' These films emphasize detailed single shots, focus on mood and atmosphere, and hyper-expressive imagery.
However, don't expect to tackle movies with complicated choreography or cinematography quite yet. The major weakness of AI films are::
Simplistic style
Difficulties with movement and character blocking
Frequent changes in setting and characters
You won't be able to shoot complicated dialogue scenes like Tarantino or create a fast-paced fight like 'The Bourne Identity' with AI filmmaking. AI films will rely on impactful imagery and expressions to resonate with the audience. If you have a story that can be conveyed simply yet powerfully with strong visuals, go for it.
Until we witness the emergence of better director tools for handling multiple characters and blocking scenes, don't anticipate AI films revolutionizing the medium just yet. Nevertheless, filmmakers armed with compelling stories and a visual flair should encounter no issues in creating outstanding AI movies. It's an exciting field that will only improve with time.
