Since their revival at the initiative of Baron Pierre de Coubertin at the dawn of the 20th century, the Olympic Games have changed significantly: they have become more feminized, some sports have disappeared while others have emerged, they have been opened up to people with disabilities, winter games have been created, they have become more professional, and they have become a global event. However, they have sometimes suffered from their spectacularization, which has sometimes led to financial abuses and cheating.
