✔ The GII.17 strain is currently causing the majority of outbreaks.
🤢 What Are the Symptoms?
✔ Vomiting & diarrhea (severe in some cases)
✔ Stomach cramps
✔ Fever & body aches
✔ Nausea
✔ Symptoms appear 12 to 48 hours after exposure (sometimes in as little as 10 hours).

📌 Norovirus is highly contagious and spreads through:

✔ Contaminated food & water (common in leafy greens, fresh fruit, sandwiches, and ice)
✔ Saliva & respiratory droplets
💡 Important: It can survive on surfaces and food even at high temperatures (up to 145°F)!
🛑 How Can You Prevent Norovirus?
✔ Wash hands frequently (especially before eating or preparing food).
✔ Avoid contact with infected individuals.
✔ Cook food properly – Eggs, meat, and seafood should be fully cooked.
✔ Disinfect surfaces – Norovirus can survive on objects for days!
💊 Is There a Treatment for Norovirus?
❌ No specific antiviral treatment or vaccine.
✔ Supportive care includes:
Staying hydrated (water, Pedialyte, or electrolyte drinks).
Eating Jell-O (an old-fashioned but effective remedy).
Resting and avoiding solid foods until symptoms improve.
🚨 Can Norovirus Be Deadly?
✔ Yes, it can be life-threatening in severe cases, especially for young children, the elderly, and immunocompromised individuals.
✔ It can lead to severe dehydration, requiring hospitalization.
