Monkey Business - Single

1). Seattle. On January 22, 2020, officers responded to a report from local residents that an unknown man was selling drugs in the Belltown area. Officers from the Seattle Police Department and King County Sheriff's deputies arrived at the location indicated by eyewitnesses. During a joint search at approximately 2:45 p.m., officers stopped a driver matching the description on 3rd Avenue and Blanchard in Belltown. One of the officers approached the driver and asked him to show his driver's license. The officers, upon seeing a weapon on the suspect, opened fire. They stopped The suspect is being treated at Harborview Medical Center and later booked into the King County Jail. The officer-involved shooting is under investigation by the South King Valley Detective Unit.
2). Connecticut, West Haven - Norlock police received a report of an armed carjacking around 4:36 p.m. The suspect was known to be armed with a knife at the time of the theft. State troopers soon discovered the stolen white Hyundai driving recklessly on I-95. Officers began pursuing the vehicle. During the pursuit, the suspect's vehicle collided with two patrol cars before exiting the interstate onto Campbell Avenue in West Haven. The suspect then collided with a civilian vehicle. Officers attempted to extricate the driver from the vehicle. They initially deployed a taser, but it had no effect on the suspect. At some point, the officer saw the suspect holding a gun, at which point the officer opened fire. The suspect suffered gunshot wounds. The weapon, a knife, was recovered from the vehicle. The driver, later identified as 19-year-old Mubarak Suleman, was taken to Yale-New Haven Hospital, where he died from his injuries. No one else was injured in the incident. The officers involved in the incident have been identified as Trooper Brian North, who has been with the department for 4 1/2 years, Trooper Joshua Jackson, who has also been with the department for 4 1/2 years, and Trooper First Class Ross Dalling, who has been with the department for 7 1/2 years. Police said North was the only one to fire his weapon. He has been placed on administrative leave.
3). Waukegan, Illinois. On February 3, 2019, at approximately 2:30 p.m., police received a call for officers to assist at a home on Windhaven Drive. When Officer Rolando Villafuerte arrived at the address, he saw a man with a female passenger attempting to drive away. The officer parked his cruiser and approached a silver Honda. The car initially backed up and the officer placed his hand on the hood, demanding that the engine be turned off. However, the driver turned the car toward the officer and drove toward him. The officer fired three shots through the windshield toward the suspect. The car then drove for some time before striking a nearby telephone pole. Asuncion J. Gomez-Guerrero, 35, was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead. An autopsy revealed that he died of gunshot wounds. Further investigation revealed he had a blood-alcohol level of .182 and traces of THC in his system, prosecutors said. Police said an 18-year-old woman who was a passenger in the car suffered minor injuries in the crash and was also taken to a hospital. Following an investigation by Illinois State Police last year, Lake County State's Attorney Michael Nerheim released a report in August finding Villafuerte acted "reasonably and appropriately" in using deadly force during the incident.
4) Salt Lake City, Jan. 8, 2020: Tyler Keaton Webster made an appointment to meet a man who was selling his red and black Mustang GT. He arrived at the designated meeting location in downtown Salt Lake City with a second man. "Webster asked to test drive the car, which the salesman agreed to, but would not allow Webster and the man to drive without him. With the car running and the salesman standing by the hood, Webster jumped into the driver's seat and drove away. Two Salt Lake City police officers riding in a patrol car spotted the stolen car just two minutes after it was stolen on North Temple. The officers turned on their lights and called over the loudspeaker for the driver to stop, but the suspect ignored them. The officers and the suspect found themselves facing each other in their cars, and the suspect began to back away. One of the officers got out of the car and stood in front of the hood of the stolen car.
