Tutorial on How to Play Sones (Zapateados) on the Band Snare Drums
In this video, we learn how to play the sones (zapateados) of banda music on the snare drums. I'll teach you the rhythm of the son, which is in 6/8 time, beat by beat. You'll also learn to play a closed roll (buzz roll), which is a very important rudiment for all styles on the snare drums. I'll also teach you variations you can add to the son rhythm to give it more flavor and make it sound fuller.
