When we install a radon mitigation system, we want to ensure that the system creates suction under the entire home. Measuring that suction below the slab is called pressure field extension (PFE). We drill small holes throughout the home's slab, allowing us to measure the suction using a pressure gauge called a micromanometer. We want these test holes to be where we expect the suction to be the weakest.
