Embracing getting older
I turned 43 last month and I devoted my bday Vlog to embracing aging. I didn’t talk much about my age on my YouTube channel because I feel like I’m surrounded by so many creators in their late 20s to 30s. So I tried to blend in.
I guess a lot of that comes from my personal trauma of growing up in the closet as a teen in the 90s. Isn’t it crazy how we still unpack those traumas we encounter as kids, well into our adulthood?
But 80% of my audience is from the ages of 35-45 so I’m not sure why I thought my age would be some sort of deterrent, or some kind of anti-marketing, or anti-algorithm entity.
I also started this journey to be my authentic self. To tell my story and leave my footprint hoping it would help someone along the way now… or even when I’m long gone.
Whether those stories are simple mundane life moments that people can relate to and seek comfort content in, stories about how I deal with personal struggles, stories about big and small victories, or just sharing the really delicious food I eat…
I’ve always considered myself a late bloomer… but I bloom eventually. And while I’m currently going through finding that second bloom in life… I won’t find it unless I accept everything about me.
