About this video: This video is a complete guide on how to play with friends in Minecraft Java Edition 26.2. We cover every method you can use to play multiplayer Minecraft from joining a public server to making your own free server to using paid hosting to opening a LAN world. It's all covered in this video, so let's dive into it!

The first method we recommend is playing Minecraft with your friends on a public server. There is a link in the description above to a Minecraft server list where you can find tons of public servers to join. From there, you grab the public IP of the server you want and join it just like any other Minecraft server. There are some downsides to playing on a public server, but it is by far the easiest way to get up and running with other people in 26.2.

After that, we have making your own free Minecraft server. Our complete guide on setting a server up for free is linked above. This is a great option if you want full control over your world and server. It does take a little more work to get going as well as tech knowledge, but overall, it’s a great option.

Next, we have Minecraft server hosting with a hosting provider. Hosting a server on your own PC can be complicated and resource intensive, so using a third party hosting company to run your 26.2 server for you is often easier. This gives you the control of self-hosting without the headache.

The next method is using a LAN world. If you are your friend are on the same internet connection, you can pause Minecraft and open your single-player world to LAN. This will then let them join it from the multiplayer screen.

If you aren’t on the same connection though, you can use the Essential mod to invite a friend to single player. This is a mod that has an invite system similar to Minecraft Bedrock. You and your friends will all need Essential installed for 26.2, and there is a link to download it along with our full guide in the description above.

The last way to play Minecraft 26.2 with friends is Minecraft Realms. This is the hosting service provided by Minecraft itself, and there is a link in the description above to learn more. The limitations are that you can't use mods with Realms, and you are more limited on server hardware and features than you would be with paid hosting, so if you are going to pay for a server anyway, I recommend using a hosting provider.

With that being said, you now know all of the different methods you can use to play Minecraft Java Edition with friends in 26.2. If you have any questions, leave a comment and let us know. We will try our best to help you out.
